2015 festival productions

Poppy Seed 2015 featured two new Australian works, one Australian premiere and two rarely-performed one act plays by Tennessee Williams. Two of the productions were included in Green Room Award nominations and one has gone on to a return season. The works were varied in form and included a comedy, contemporary drama, devised performance and classic drama.

Presented at The New Ballroom, Trades Hall, TBC Theatre’s Project:Hysteria staged two rarely performed one act plays by Tennessee Williams in a design that echoed the cinema-scopic style of the 1950s.

Presented at The Butterfly Club, 15 Minutes from Anywhere delighted audiences with their hilarious and highly subversive adaptation of 19th century Australian “invasion fiction” novel The Yellow Wave.

Presented at The New Ballroom, Trades Hall, Man With A Plan, realised new Australian work, Gin Sister, a multi-disciplinary exploration of women’s experience of alcohol.

Presented at fortyfivedownstairs, Fire Curtain Co staged the Australian Premiere of British playwright, Vicky Jones’ acclaimed contemporary text, The One.
