"This production is exquisite. It strikes the perfect balance between humour and discomfort. The use of props, costumes and lighting is excellent; the acting is superb...a must-see"
The Plus Ones
"...a beautiful, uncomfortable and thought-provoking piece"
"Bread Crumbs is a tight and focussed 55 minutes – sharply intelligent and realised with disciplined skill."
"The acting is highly physical and vocally rich, creating a hyper-real world bursting with energy. Johnston’s driving performance as the bossy, big sister is outstanding and strong, powering the narrative along."
"More excellence from this years eclectic and cleverly situated Poppy Seed Festival...very skilled actors... Expect to be moved with the depth and complexity of the content...This is the type of work that elevates through its vital and elusive insights"
This year the festival features five outstanding works by new and emerging theatre makers that are bound to delight, inform, amuse, inspire, entertain and spark debate.
The 2017 program is the most diverse to be presented as part of Poppy Seed Theatre Festival and features five world premieres. The program includes writing by Daniel Keene, a lesbian musical rom-com, a co-production that explores a female autistic experience of the world, a warped retelling of the Hansel and Gretel fable and circus as an interactive performance game.
